Description
This dataset consists of whole slide images (WSI) from pleural biopsies and surgical resection specimens. It includes both image data and associated metadata representing normal and subnormal pleura, as well as a wide range of pleural diseases, including neoplastic (benign and malignant) and non‑neoplastic (inflammatory, reactive, etc.) conditions. All cases were retrieved from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and span the years 2015-2025. Individual WSIs may contain both pathological abnormalities and normal or lesion-free tissue. Furthermore, not all slides necessarily display the abnormality described in the diagnosis for a given case. The dataset includes slides stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), chemical stains, and immunohistochemical (IHC) markers. Metadata incorporates pathology-related information extracted from the original diagnostic pathology reports.
